Aug 1, 2007
TORONTO, Aug. 1 /CNW/ - To celebrate the 175th anniversary of Toronto's Distillery District (1225th in dog years), Fido today unveils the 'Fido Spot', the largest permanent exterior digital video projector system of its kind in Ontario. Emerging Canadian artists and filmmakers will be able to showcase their artwork on a seven-storey high digital projector system, making the Distillery District Ontario's biggest outdoor canvas. A life-sized pin-art structure commissioned by Fido and installed at the site will also allow guests to make their own personal artistic impression. "The Distillery District is home to some of Toronto's finest boutiques, theatres, cafés and restaurants. It is a natural fit with Fido because we both attract a very similar crowd: young, urban hipsters who want to experience and enjoy all their city has to offer," said Patrick Hadsipantelis, Vice President, Marketing for Fido. "I'm excited to unveil the Fido Spot as a one of a kind artistic venue that, like your Fido, is always by your side when you're visiting Toronto's Distillery District." "The Distillery District was the most popular filming location in the country and is now internationally recognized as Canada's premier centre for arts, culture and entertainment. We are really excited about the new digital video projector that Fido is adding to this venue. We are proud to partner with them to help promote new artists," said Mathew Rosenblatt, Partner, Distillery District." Fido's support is integral in strengthening our position as an incubator for new talent in Toronto." The Fido brand is all about happening places, trend-setting people and technology. The Fido Spot combines all these elements. The advanced digital video projection system will ensure a crisp, bright canvas for emerging artists to show their work and gain public recognition. Guests will also have a fun time making an impression with the life-size pin-art installation, a permanent gift to the Distillery District from Fido. Designed by House of Kevin, the structure is 7 feet high by 4 feet wide. About FIDO Fido offers Canadian consumers and businesses a wide range of wireless voice and data communications products and services, including international roaming in over 196 countries.
