Toronto Maple Leafs Hit the Ice on Sportsnet with 56 Games on TV, 41 on Radio, and All 82 on Digital for 2017-18 Season

TORONTO (September 15, 2017) As summer comes to a close and the leaves begin to change colour, fans of the Blue and White are getting set to sport their Leafs colours again as Sportsnet, Canada’s home of hockey, today announced its 2017-18 Toronto Maple Leafs regular season broadcast schedule. Sportsnet will deliver 56 Maple Leafs games on television and Sportsnet NOW, 41 games on Sportsnet 590 The FAN, and all 82 games online at Rogers NHL LIVE.

The action gets underway on Wednesday, Oct. 4, opening night of the NHL season, as sophomore stars Auston Matthews and Patrik Laine face off when Toronto visits the Winnipeg Jets at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT on Sportsnet. (Please see below for full schedule).

Sportsnet is also home to four Maple Leafs pre-season matchups on TV, with two pre-season games also airing on Sportsnet 590 The FAN. Leafs Nation can catch the pre-season action beginning Monday, Sept. 18 at 7:30 p.m. ET / 4:30 p.m. PT on Sportsnet, as the Buds renew the Battle of Ontario with the Ottawa Senators.

On TV – National

Sportsnet will broadcast 40 national Toronto Maple Leafs games this season, featured prominently on Sportsnet’s three marquee national nights: Hockey Night in Canada on Saturdays, Rogers Hometown Hockey on Sundays and Scotiabank Wednesday Night Hockey. Highlights from the Maple Leafs national broadcast schedule include:

  • 23 games on Hockey Night in Canada, including 10 all-Canadian matchups
  • 14 appearances on Scotiabank Wednesday Night Hockey, including the Maple Leafs opening night battle against the Winnipeg Jets
  • Three appearances on Rogers Hometown Hockey on Sunday evenings, including a showdown against Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers
  • An outdoor game against the Washington Capitals on Saturday, March 3 from the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Maryland.

On TV – Regional

Sportsnet Ontario is home to 16 regional Maple Leafs games this season, starting on Thursday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. ET as the Maple Leafs play host to the Carolina Hurricanes.

Play-by-play announcer Paul Romanuk returns to the Leafs broadcast booth to call regional games, alongside game analyst Greg Millen and rinkside reporter Shawn McKenzie. Daren Millard returns to host Hockey Central Tonight alongside Sportsnet’s panel of hockey analysts Nick Kypreos, Elliotte Friedman and Colby Armstrong for exclusive pre-game insight and analysis.

Highlights from Sportsnet’s regional Maple Leafs broadcast schedule include:

  • The team’s first ever matchup against the NHL’s newest franchise, the Vegas Golden Knights, on Monday, Nov. 6.
  • Two games against Auston Matthews’s hometown team, the Arizona Coyotes
  • A showdown against 2017 Western Conference Champion Nashville Predators

On Radio

Sportsnet 590 The FAN is home to 41 Toronto Maple Leafs radio broadcasts this season. Joe Bowen, the celebrated voice of the Maple Leafs, returns to the radio broadcast booth alongside analyst and former goalie Jim Ralph.

Following every game, former Leafs GM Gord Stellick and retired NHL player Todd Hlushko will host the two-hour Leafs Nation Post-Game show on Sportsnet 590 The FAN.

Sportsnet 590 The FAN also has coverage of two pre-season games starting with the Maple Leafs and the Ottawa Senators on Monday, Sept. 18 at 7:30 p.m. ET.

On Digital

All 82 Maple Leafs games will be streamed live on Rogers NHL LIVE (formerly Rogers NHL GameCentre LIVE), with the 56 televised games also available on Sportsnet NOW. Availability on each streaming service is based on viewers’ subscription packages and region. Blackouts are determined by NHL broadcast regulations and apply based on where you live, the services you subscribe to and/or your location at time of viewing a live NHL game.

In addition to Sportsnet’s Toronto Maple Leafs regional broadcasts, Sportsnet will deliver exclusive coverage of more than 450 national and regional NHL games this season. In addition to delivering premium Canadian matchups, Sportsnet’s 2017-18 national broadcast schedule showcases the biggest events of the NHL season, including two outdoor games featuring Canadian teams – the NHL 100 Classic between Montreal and Ottawa on Saturday, Dec.16 and the 2018 Coors Light NHL Stadium Series game between Toronto and Washington on Saturday, March 3. The schedule also features exclusive coverage of the 2018 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic on January 1, the 18th annual Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada on January 20, the 2018 NHL All-Star Game on January 27-28, the 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs and the 2018 Stanley Cup Final.
