    Award recognizes innovative small businesses

TORONTO, Sept. 25 /CNW/ - Rogers Cable Small Business Services and PROFIT
Magazine today opened calls for entry for the 2008 Innovations @ Work Award
program. An overwhelming success in its inaugural year, the Innovations @ Work
Award program recognizes small businesses with fewer than 20 employees whose
innovative products, creative marketing initiatives or unique management
practices contribute to their success.
To enter, interested organizations can visit
www.profitmagazine.ca/innovationsatwork and provide an overview of what makes
their organization's products, services or processes innovative and creative.
A panel of judges, including past winners, small business experts and PROFIT
Magazine editorial staff, will select up to three winners.
Winners will be announced on February 4, 2009, and will receive an
extensive corporate profile in PROFIT Magazine, Canada's leading magazine for
entrepreneurs. As well, winning organizations will be honoured at a leadership
luncheon with senior Rogers executives and the editors of Canadian Business
and PROFIT magazines in Toronto.
"Canadian small businesses are at the forefront of innovation, both in
terms of their offerings to the marketplace and the ways they manage their
business," said Steven Wagner, Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing
Officer, Rogers Cable. "We're very excited to once again be able to recognize
the achievements of these outstanding Canadian entrepreneurs with the
Innovations @ Work Award."
In its inaugural year, Fredericton's Virtual Expert Clinics and Toronto's
IQ PARTNERS, Inc. became the first recipients of the Rogers Innovation @ Work
award.
"In 2007 Virtual Expert Clinics and IQ PARTNERS Inc. exemplified what it
means to be innovative," said Ian Portsmouth, Editor-in-Chief, PROFIT
Magazine. "We look forward to having many more great small business success
stories enter Innovations @ Work in 2008."
